Buttonwoods Fish & Chips
For home-style comfort food that warms your heart this spring
The spring may have been slow in coming this year, but the temperamental weather has not slowed down 88-year old Irma Carolan, a regular and heartfelt devotee of Buttonwoods Fish & Chips in Warwick . Irma’s week would not be complete without her daily visit to this cozy eatery on Buttonwoods Avenue; she comes every day except Monday when, sadly, Buttonwoods is closed, and Thursday, a day she reserves for her weekly manicure. Irma and her family come on Sundays, joining the legions of fans who frequent this bistro-style restaurant for Sunday morning breakfast feasts. For many, these meals are a tradition that includes literally generations of family members ~ like Irma who brings her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to her favorite dining destination.
Irma loves just about everything on the menu, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. She swoons over the Beef and Barley soup, but admits she loves every soup served here. For lunch, she loves the half-size portion of the chowder, just right “for us older folks.” Today, she is enjoying a bowl of chicken escarole soup and a turkey sandwich, but tomorrow, the possibilities are endless!
Buttonwoods Fish & Chips is a popular restaurant for diners of all ages and appetites. On any given day, a passerby would find a group of women lingering over a cup of coffee and a muffin or a couple enjoying a quiet midday lunch, or a raucous family gathering for dinner on a Friday night. Owners Jackie and Tony Fiore, both a constant and comforting presence here, make Buttonwoods a welcoming and affordable restaurant whose doors are open to all, young and old. Many would agree that they are one of the best the city of Warwick has to offer.
Customers flock to Buttonwoods every day for their homemade and wholesome breakfasts ~ eggs and omelets, French toast and waffles, bacon and homefries, hash and oatmeal! Each meal is more mouth-watering and satisfying than the next.
Buttonwoods is also known for its classic lunch fare, including their chunky clam chowder and clam cakes, heart-warming soups, fresh seasonal salads and sandwiches, and even juicy burgers, salty fries and golden onion rings. Tasty appetizers and indulgent desserts are also there to test every diner’s self-restraint!
As an added bonus for fans of this much-loved restaurant, Buttonwoods is also the ultimate destination for DINNER! Served on Friday nights only, the dinner menu is long and varied, serving the kind of Italian cuisine that pleases every discerning palate.
